It’s 2016, you’re new to iOS and wondering: Should I start with Swift or Objective-C?

Back in May 2015, I wrote a post titled “Should you start with Swift or Objective-C to learn iOS development?

A few things have changed by now and I think startups/companies are really starting to get in on the whole Swift thing.

Notice the Swift and/or Objective-C.

The thing is that now Swift has been around for some time and if you are just starting out, it will take some time for you to get a grasp on iOS in general. Meanwhile, Swift will get even more popular and high in demand.

So my bet if you’re starting now, definitely start with Swift. You will stumble upon some Objective-C code just because not all frameworks are in Swift yet, but that’s the downside you’ll have to deal with. And it’s a small downside, considering you’ll totally program yourself (pun) to the beautiful Swift syntax and all its cool tricks.
